Photographing Airbnb Homes in the Hudson Valley

Airbnb listings with beautiful photographs get more views and more bookings, that’s a fact. It’s literally the first thing potential guests will see when looking for a place to stay – and a determining factor in their final decision to book your home or look elsewhere.

With experience photographing properties for Airbnb as well as for multitude of hosts, I have a keen understanding of what camera angles work best, how to make spaces “shine” and what kind of images will look best on your listing.

On a typical shoot I’ll arrive in the morning and after reviewing the home, start by photographing the exterior of the house (including with a drone if aerial imagery makes sense, see examples here) and then move to photograph the interior. I pay special attention to the master bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen – all the spots potential guests want to get a good feel for – and provide additional angles for all these spaces.

After architecturally photographing all the spaces with a wide to medium range lens, I’ll shift to capturing some additional close-up details. These extra photos will highlight specific elements that are unique and make your home unique and special, and make a potential guest feel this is the right place for them. At the end of the day, I’ll shoot more exterior photographs and fly the drone again if the light conditions changed significantly enough from the morning.

Upon returning to my studio the post-production work begins. I strive to make each room look natural while using additional lights when shooting your home so the process includes combining several exposures afterwards. This creates results that look natural to our eyes with additional details that are simply not visible when shooting only with available light. The resulting package will be a set of between twenty to forty edited photographs (depending on your property’s size) that will be ready for you to upload to Airbnb immediately.
